My Therapeutic Approach and Experience
I have been practising psychotherapy for over 20 years and I find my work to be both challenging and rewarding. I work with the Gestalt method of counselling, which is a creative and experiential approach.
Gestalt addresses the individual’s experience in the present moment and aims to help each client achieve wholeness by integrating the emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual aspects of self through the development of awareness. This method encourages a sense of inner peace and wholeness.
I have completed the Bluestar Project Pre-Trial therapy course, so I can support witnesses of crime seeking pre-trial therapeutic support.
I am also fully qualified to use the EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) Trauma treatment.
I worked for Dorset Mind for 10 years as a group facilitator supporting people with Agoraphobia, panic attacks, OCD and other related anxiety states.
I have 25 years experience working with Gestalt and 15 years working with complex trauma and PTSD with the EMDR approach
My Background
I have a background in Management Training and Consulting and I worked for several years in the Corporate environment. I decided to retrain as a Psychotherapist as I wanted to work with people on a deeper and more meaningful level.
